Zyprexa® (olanzapine): Breaking or Dividing Tablets
Zyprexa coated tablets are not scored and not intended to be broken or divided. The package leaflet recommends swallowing the tablets whole with water.
Additional Safety Information
Confirmed cases of allergic contact dermatitis have been reported with olanzapine. Symptoms have included rash with redness, swelling, and scaling of the affected skin areas. Positive reactions have been verified by patch testing with olanzapine (0.1%). Based on the clinical dose, olanzapine is highly potent.1
Likewise, olanzapine may be irritating to the eyes based on animal studies. Care should be exercised not to inadvertently transfer material from the hands to the eye.2
