Missed Dose

There is no one rule on what to do in the event of a missed dose of insulin, including insulin glargine.

Patients with a missed dose of Abasaglar should

  • test their blood glucose and their urine for ketones as soon as any symptoms of hyperglycaemia occur
  • monitor their blood glucose frequently
  • do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose, and
  • contact their physician.1

Physicians sould use their clinical discretion regarding resumption of Abasaglar dosing.

Factors that may be considered by physicians include

  • the wide spectrum of disease progression
  • individual dosing ranges
  • time from the missed dose, and
  • concomitant medications.
