Trulicity® (dulaglutide): Patients travelling with or transporting dulaglutide

Keep dulaglutide between 2-8°C when travelling. Room temperature (below 30°C) for up to a total of 14 days is allowed if refrigeration is not possible.

Storage Conditions

Store in a refrigerator (2 ºC – 8 ºC).1

Do not freeze.1

Store in original package in order to protect from light. 1

In use: Dulaglutide may be stored unrefrigerated for up to 14 days at a temperature not above 30 ºC. 1

The allowable 14-day room temperature exposure may be one single 14-day exposure or it can be broken up into multiple exposures. There is not a limit to the number room temperature exposures as long as the total time does not exceed 14 days (336 hours).2

Using Cooler Bags

Lilly does not test, market or sell coolers to keep dulaglutide cold for long periods of time, so we cannot recommend any of them.2

Do not freeze your pen.3

If a travel storage cooler is used, it is important to remember, that dulaglutide should not touch ice or frozen gel packs.2

Air travel

When traveling by airplane,

  • place dulaglutide prefilled-pen in the carry-on baggage, to carry it onto the airplane.2

    • In checked luggage, temperatures may be too cold or too hot for dulaglutide.2

  • X-rays at airport security screening are not known to affect dulaglutide.2

  • dulaglutide is enclosed in glass syringe and dulaglutide will not be affected by any changes in air pressure.2

Airlines and other countries may have additional rules and restrictions. Please check with your airline for more information.

Traveling internationally

If you are traveling internationally, check with the authorities in the country you plan to visit (embassy). This particularly applies to traveling in countries outside European Union.

If you declare a dulaglutide pre-filled pen, explain why you have it with you.
