Is Cyramza® (ramucirumab) compatible with large-bore needles or spikes?
The use of large-bore needles can cause coring of the stopper and is therefore not recommended.
Use of large-bore needles/spikes
The use of large-bore needles or “spikes” has not been tested by Eli Lilly and Co. and is therefore not recommended.
The large bore can cause coring and fragmentation of the stopper.
If the use of spikes cannot be prevented, inspect the diluted solution for particles and discolouration before administration. Discard the solution if you see particles or discolouration.1
Cyramza vials contain chlorobutyl elastomer stoppers that are intended for single use. The stoppers are easy to penetrate with a sharp needle.1
